Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree with training/specialization in Creative Arts.  
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); Typing and Office Management Skills; 
  • Skills in communication and problem solving; working with faculty, staff, students, local businesses and community

Preferred Qualifications

  • Meet minimum requirements and hold a Bachelor's degree.

Position Description

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Coordinator of Creative Arts Center is responsible for establishing and supervising Continuing Education Creative Art Programs designed to assist individuals desiring employment, retraining, certification for employment, enrichment or lifelong learning.

This is a 12-month exempt staff position.

 

 

Essential Duties

  • To develop, implement and maintain quality instructional programs and services.
  • To ensure audit compliance with the NCCCS.
  • To ensure quality, value-added training to the community at large in the above areas
  • Supervise the development of classes in the Creative Arts continuing education program area.
  • Work closely with Curriculum Creative Arts Program.  Assist Curriculum programs with recruitment and marketing of the Creative Arts Programming
  • Study community needs and national trends and techniques to guide organization of new courses 
  • Promote courses and program, disseminating information in the community.
  • Coordinate course schedules for on and off campus classes.
  • Coordinate tours of the Center and manage requests for use of the Center
  • Manage and schedule overall facilities and program equipment and supply resources with inventory control.
  • Manage and maintain budget for WCE Creative Arts program area.
  • Select and supervise qualified part-time instructors.
  • Ensure the currency and appropriateness of educational books, tools and materials
  • Develop contracts and agreements for required educational and field experience.
  • Register classes and submit registration materials and fees in timely manner.
  • Issue contracts and other job-related information to instructors.
  • Responsible for all course completion reports, attendance rosters, and applications submitted to other agencies.
  • Maintain current information on policies, procedures, new techniques, training requirements, and regulations to ensure that all training offered conforms to course specific state and national certification protocols.
  • Coordinate educational programs outcomes/performance evaluations based on institutional success factors.
  • Coordinate events and departments utilizing CAB.
  • Coordinate and work with CU and CE on gallery space and exhibitions.
  • Coordinate the use of CE lab space, setup and take down
  • Recruitment of students to HCC and individual programs
  • Represent the College at appropriate meetings, activities, conferences and other outreach efforts.  Participate in national, regional and local initiatives.  Identify external partnerships and link those partnerships to HCC programs and services. 
  • Assess instructor needs/concerns.
  • Evaluate student concerns and address any issues that may arise in the classroom/studio setting.
  • Work with the Dean of Workforce Continuing Education and the Vice-President’s Office to finalize contracts, Datatel course entry, and timesheets.

  • Create a student-centered environment for on and off campus students 
  • Work toward operational excellence; continuous improvement of processes and seek help from advisory committees
  • Implement innovative strategies to meet the needs of students and improve processes
  • Interact with co-workers and perform tasks with the highest level of integrity
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and our learning community
  • Promote and support HCC’s mission, vision, and values and promote and support coworkers in the most positive manner.
