Education Minimum:   Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational management, business management, public administration or a related field.

Experience Minimum:  Three to five years of experience in Human Resources.  Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management.   Requires exceptional interpersonal skills, analytical ability, and regular use of HR databases and spreadsheets.

Position Description

Summary:

Performs professional support to the Human Resources Department.   Assist with policies, and other human resources activities, such as recruitment and selection, training and development, classification and pay, personnel records and human resources information systems.

 Knowledge & Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Administers various human resources procedures and programs for all college personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies, and procedures. 
  • Responsible for the research, development and maintenance of spreadsheets, reports, databases, and a host of HR related projects. 
  • Adjusts levels of compensation and classifications using a banded pay plan and the faculty pay scales under broad direction.  Analyzes job descriptions, organizational units, labor market considerations, and classification factors.  
  • Maintains salary banding worksheets, position control logs, and related HR data.
  • Maintains organizational charts.
  • Monitors and assures compliance with Community College System, State, and Federal requirements including FLSA.  May assist with ADA, Worker’s Comp, and FMLA policies.
  • Serves as the primary Time Clock Administrator.
  • Assist with FMLA and Workers Compensation leave.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt, part time and temporary employees.
  • Assist with New Employee Orientation program.
  • Trains staff and faculty on Applicant Tracking, Onboarding and Time Clock Management Systems and provides training and professional development opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Mathematical Skills                                    

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                               

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                                      

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office.  Knowledge of Datael Colleague, Human Resources databases and HRIS preferred.
