  • At least 21 years of age
  • Current Basic Law Enforcement Certification (BLET) or be capable of successfully completing the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program
  • This position requires the candidate to be certified through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Standards Commission.

Education Minimum:  High School Diploma, GED or Higher
 
Experience Minimum:  Current Basic Law Enforcement Certification (BLET) or be capable of successfully completing the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program  AND Previous experience as a police/law enforcement officer or One (1) year of security guard experience

Position Description

Summary
Enforce all state and federal laws and provides Safety and Security in day-to-day operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

  • Patrolling premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence
  • Enforce all state and federal laws while ensuring the safety and security of the college
  • This position requires the officer to work outside in both cold and heat conditions for extended periods of time, and be able to work a flexible schedule if needed, including nights, weekends, holidays and on call after hours
  • Report safety issues, such as fire hazards, vandalism and suspicious or criminal activity
  • Avert inventory losses by reporting missing items, inconsistencies and damaged property
  • Warn patrons of possible rule-breaking, and eject those who violate rules or cause disturbances 
  • Monitor the entrance and exit to prevent theft and ensure workplace security
  • Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations
  • Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts
  • Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and importance occurrences
  • Perform other duties as assigned

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, social media, and internet usage.
 
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Basic Law Enforcement Certification or be able to complete the Basic Law Enforcement Training program.
