 Education Minimum:  A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of education, teaching, workforce education, adult education, occupational training, or a related field.
 
Experience Minimum:   Two (2) to four (4) years of professional-level experience in training and development, instructional design and delivery, training coordination or related occupation. Experience in a higher education setting with employee development focus is desirable.

Position Description

Summary
 
Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates professional development programs, events, and activities for various groups and individuals at the college.  

 

 Knowledge & Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, or consultations with Human resources and other managers and identify, develop and implement successful and innovative learning and development programs.
  • Design and create training manuals, online learning modules, and course materials
  • Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment
  • Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure they are current and effective
  • Deliver training to employees using a variety of instructional techniques
  • Provide resources for professional development activities.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of a comprehensive professional development program;
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action; identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Research a variety of information (such as courses, materials, training consultants, so forth) to develop new programs that meet staff training needs.
  • Assist in new employee orientation
  • Assist HR Director in the employee performance management such as identifying training needs based on performance issues.
  • Assist with employee relations issues
  • Other duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Does not supervise employees.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English, fluency in other languages a plus.    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

 
Mathematical Skills:     

  • Ability to perform basic math computations including adding, subtracting, multiplying and averaging all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute fractions, percentages, and decimals.

                                    
Reasoning Ability

  • Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership. 
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Effectively assess, target, and align professional development needs with individual, departmental and college and District goals

                        
Computer Skills
Demonstrated experience with learning management systems. A complete knowledge of Microsoft Products as used in overall management in an educational environment is required. Experience creating training using various authoring tools. Experience with online course delivery systems
