Education Minimum:   Associate’s Degree or Higher 
            
Experience Minimum: One (1) to three (3) years in Customer Service, Education, or Marketing 
 
 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience: Mastery of Conversational Spanish; Experience presenting to large and small groups; Experience using a Customer Relationship Management Tool (CRM); Virtual Outreach experience  

Position Description

Summary
The Student Recruitment Specialist will plan and lead recruitment efforts for the College, facilitate on campus assistance for potential students, and partner with College stakeholders to foster engagement in the community at large

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Represent the college to prospective students, parents, secondary school personnel, businesses, and organizations in the community. 
  • Serve as an on-campus point of contact for potential students seeking guidance before applying. 
  • Design and implement campus tours, virtual information sessions, and specialized campus visits. 
  • Visit and build relationships with students, parents, and staff from all Johnston County high schools.   
  • Utilize the College’s Customer Relationship Management tool to track and interact with prospects to ensure quality individual attention 
  • Serve as a liaison with high school personnel to enhance awareness of JCC programs and opportunities. 
  • Build and implement a strategy for non-public and home school engagement. 
  • Collaborate with academic programs to promote individual curriculums and create targeted recruitment strategies with program faculty. 
  • Communicate with college officials concerning suggestions from prospective students and business and industry for new courses, programs, or updating of current programs/courses; 
  • Assist the First Year Experience function with planning and coordinating orientation; 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to create published recruitment materials and branded items for distribution. 
  • Analyze and build recruiting strategies based on enrollment data. 
  • Serve on the Strategic Enrollment Management committee. 
  • Maintain a flexible schedule that may include some weekends and evenings.

  Language Skills                                            

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  

 
Mathematical Skills                                               

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 
Reasoning Ability                                         

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 
Computer Skills                                           
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Colleague and IIPS software programs, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
