A minimum of one (1) year of experience in janitorial services or related industry
Most possess a valid NC Driver’s License
Physical Requirements
Must be able to tolerate exposure to elements such as weather, noise, dust, and odors.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed.
Continuous walking and climbing of stairs required.
Bending, stooping, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds required.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in janitorial services or related industry.
Position Description
This position ensures all rooms and service areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard. Custodian personnel are expected to report to work even when the College is closed due to inclement weather or other reasons. Supervisors will approve time off at a later date in the same amount as the time worked when the college was closed. Employees who do NOT report for work on a scheduled workday when the College has closed and other maintenance personnel are working will be required to use Annual Leave for the time missed that day.
Essential Duties
Perform general housekeeping duties in assigned building(s) including offices, hallways, meeting rooms, classrooms and restrooms, including sanitizing and restocking the restrooms.
Remove trash in the buildings and deposit it into a container for removal from the campus.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment in all campus facilities and grounds for faculty, staff, patrons and visitors.
Perform regular maintenance of floors including, but not limited to, stripping and waxing, buffing, dust mopping, damp mopping, and carpet care as scheduled.
Assist in setup and removal of materials and equipment for special events.
Deliver supplies and materials for staff when needed.
During inclement weather, assist with storm clean up, or evacuation, snow removal, etc. that is required to be done during times the school is closed due to the inclement weather.
Perform other duties as are assigned by supervisor and administration.
