Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree or higher in any discipline from an accredited institution. Level I Paramedic Instructor Certification with the ability to obtain Level II Certification within one year of employment. Current HCP, ACLS, ITLS/PHTLS and AMLS Instructor certification or the ability to obtain within two years of employment. Current North Carolina Paramedic Credential. A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in EMS. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the institution, with reference to the mission and the open door policy. The ability to problem solve and work directly with a diverse population of learners. Effective written and public speaking skills are required. Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment and be accountable for assignments. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and work effectively with people from all social-economic/education levels and ethnic groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in any discipline from an accredited institution preferred. Five years of experience working EMS preferred.
Position Description
General Description of the Position:
The Emergency Medical Services Instructor and Clinical Coordinator, will work under the authority of the Vice President for Instruction, EMS Program Director and the Dean of Allied Health and Human Services. This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position located mainly on the Hamlet Campus. This faculty position is responsible for preparing and delivering didactic and laboratory education that is in accordance with North Carolina Office of EMS and the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Progression (Co AEMSP) curriculum. Additionally, this instructor will be responsible for coordinating clinical placement for students in the EMS programs.
