Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution, with 18 graduate credit hours in Communication
  • Skill in the use of computers, Google Workspace, and a commitment to the use of technology in instruction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
  • Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
    • Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
    • Collaborating and facilitating
    • Creating and innovating
    • Anticipating and responding to change
    • Providing vision and leadership
    • Assessment of student learning
    • Engagement and assessment of successful student retention models

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dual teaching fields (18 graduate hours in more than one discipline)
  • Community College teaching experience
  • Experience using an Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content
  • Experience with online instruction
  • Experience using equitable pedagogical strategies

What you'll do on a typical day

The Communication Faculty position is full-time with teaching responsibilities at both campus locations (Mocksville and Thomasville). There may be opportunities to teach a Communication class at a local high school. Classes are offered during the day in traditional face-to-face modalities, online, and hybrid. The Communication Faculty is responsible for designing and implementing learning strategies for students; developing course syllabi and instructional materials; maintaining instructional records; implementing strategies for student retention. This position reports directly to the Dean of Academic Programs at the Davie Campus.

  • Perform other duties as assigned that achieve the mission and initiatives of the college
