Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution, with 18 graduate credit hours in Sociology
- Skill in the use of computers, Google Workspace, and a commitment to the use of technology in instruction
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
- Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with both traditional and high school (CCP) students
- Community College teaching experience
- Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content
- Experience with creating and teaching online courses
Position Description
What you'll do on a typical day
Responsibilities:
The Faculty, Sociology position is full-time with teaching responsibilities at both campus locations (Mocksville and Thomasville). The candidate is also needed to teach at a number of our local high schools. Classes are offered during the day in traditional face-to-face modalities, online, and hybrid. This faculty member is responsible for designing and implementing learning strategies for students; developing course syllabi and instructional materials; maintaining instructional records; implementing strategies for student retention. This position reports directly to the Chair, Social and Behavioral Sciences.
- Promote College mission, vision and values
- Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and high school campuses.
- Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
- Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
- Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the classroom and practical setting to meet program needs
- Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
- Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.
- Attend appropriate College and School meetings
- Assist in student recruitment and retention
- Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff
- Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
- Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.
