Minimum Qualifications

A MLS degree, or equivalent, from an accredited ALA graduate program is required. 

Preferred Qualifications

A strong commitment to high-quality customer service, and teamwork in the community college setting are desirable.  The preferred candidate will have a proficient knowledge of computer applications and a working knowledge of an automated library system.  In addition, the candidate should possess excellent communication skills and should be able to bend, stoop, and lift a minimum of twenty (20) lbs.

Position Description

Report to and assist the Director of Library Services in planning and implementing effective literacy instruction, reference, circulation services, programming, and the preparation of all resources for library use.  Work in conjunction with the professional library staff to provide excellent support and reference services to students, faculty, and staff in the community college setting; serve as supervisor for the library staff and library operations in the absence of the Director of Library Services; teach information literacy instruction and orientation classes that showcase the various databases and other library resources; assist with the collection development of library materials in a variety of formats; actively promote library services and resources, and serve as liaison to faculty in assigned academic disciplines; create and maintain web-based subject and course research guides; supervise student work-study interns; possess a knowledge of and assist with technical services, including cataloging and circulation functions; oversee the maintenance of the library web presence, including the library website and social media outlets; function as part of a team that works a flexible night and weekend rotation providing circulation and reference services; serve as a professional staff representative on faculty committees; relate well to students, co-workers, and the general public, and perform other duties as assigned.  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, with some nights and weekends.

Salary:  Based upon education and experience.

Start Date:  September 1, 2022.
