Minimum Qualifications

Must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and possess a master's degree or higher.  Must have a background in education and the professional experiences necessary to understand and fulfill the program goals.  Must have had instruction in educational theory and methodology (e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation).  Must either (a) possess a current North Caroline Dental Hygiene License upon employment; or (b) be a Dentist with a DDS or a DMD who possesses a current North Caroline Dental License and an active DEA number upon employment.  Dentist must have occupational experience in the application of fourhanded dentistry principles, either as a dental assistant or working with a chairside assistant, and meet the minimum education and experience requirements. 

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with an earned Dental Assisting National Board "Certified Dental Assistant" credential, preferred.  Candidates with prior teaching experience in a CODA-accredited institution, preferred.

Position Description

A $9,000 signing bonus will be paid, based upon satisfactory performance and continued employment, in three equal installments.  The first installment will be paid in August 2024, the second installment will be paid in December 2024, and the third installment will be paid in May 2025.

This is a nine (9) month position with a subsequent summer contract as well as a supplemental obligation in the summer to perform administrative duties.  The primary position responsibilities will be instructional and administrative as the Program Director and Department Head who is responsible for guiding and directing the learning experience of students.  Responsible for both preparing and delivering instruction to a diverse student population using not only various course delivery methods (e.g., seated, online, hybrid, etcetera) at various locations (e.g., campus classrooms and/or lab facilities military installations, clinical or extension sites, high schools, etcetera).  Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as a curriculum faculty member and full-time employee, to include, but not limited to, other duties as assigned.  

Closing Date: March 31, 2024, or open until filled.
Start Date: May 16, 2024.
Salary: Based on education and experience.
Standard Working Hours: Monday - Friday with a minimum of (30) contact/office hours per week.  Working days and hours vary, based upon institutional need or programmatic requirements.
