Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Vocational/technical school education in electrical, HVAC systems, carpentry, or a related field, or two years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities will be considered.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have an acceptable criminal background check. Must have an acceptable driver's record check. Must attend required safety training. Must be willing to use proper safety equipment and follow proper safety procedures.
Position Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of general maintenance duties as required and in support of electrical, mechanic, plumber, etc. Requires being on-call during rotating nights and weekends for emergency assistance due to maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment for the college. Performs other related duties as required. Reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities Services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs electrical maintenance duties which include changing lights and ballasts as necessary, installing phone lines where needed, moving computer lines as needed, troubleshooting electrical problems, etc.
Performs routine maintenance on the HVAC systems of the College. Duties include checking air conditioning units to determine if they are functioning properly, cleaning and servicing units as necessary, changing belts as needed, changing air filters on a regular basis, etc.
Maintains records as required including operating a computer-based work order system. Maintains procurement card related sales receipts.
Operates and/or utilizes a variety of types of equipment upon completion of proper training. Equipment includes: forklift, scissor life, aerial platform, generator, electric welder, gas torch, mechanic's tools, HVAC tools, electrician's tools and supplies, campus vehicles, etc. Must possess and maintain a valid N.C. driver's license.
Performs carpentry-related tasks which include: installation of white boards, door hardware, whiteboards, roof repair, etc.
Performs on call service on rotating nights and weekends for emergency assistance due to maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment for the college, which includes checking all facilities for proper operation on weekends and holidays.
Additional Job Functions
Performs a variety of general maintenance duties such as: removing broken tree limbs from trees, unloading trucks, assisting carpenter and plumber as needed, performing duties during inclement weather which requires, but is not limited to, storm clean up, storm notification or evacuation, and snow removal which may be required to be done during times the school is closed due to the inclement weather.
