Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid North Carolina Driver License with a clean driving record
  • Minimum of at least (1) year work experience with students with intellectual/development disabilities
  • Five years’ experience in commercial lawn care including knowledge of lawn equipment, power tools, safety and maintenance
  • General Statute 122C-80 Criminal History Record consent is required as well as fingerprint check if the applicant has been a resident of NC for less than 5 years

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

 

The Grounds Habilitation Specialist is responsible for supervision the Brunswick Interagency Program Grounds Crew.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides training and supervision of adult with diagnosed with I/DD while maintaining yard maintenance accounts within Brunswick County
  • Supervises student workers in grounds maintenance
  • Transports  the crew and equipment to and from job sites
  • Maintains equipment and maintenance log
  • Promotes the safe use of equipment and power tools
  • Keeps records of mileage and gas usage on the appropriate reporting forms
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the Brunswick Interagency Program

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasional lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects while supervising students in an outdoor environment.
