Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree in Gunsmithing or related field or a minimum of 5 years Gunsmithing experience. Must demonstrate proficiency in machine tool technology, mills, and lathes; bluing, parkerizing, and painting; possess a working knowledge of ATF/FFL rules and regulations. Must be able to pass background checks demonstrating legal authorization to possess a firearm.

Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) are necessary. Applicants not meeting these minimum requirements will not be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree in Gunsmithing or related field. Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college. On-line teaching experience. CNC experience (CAD/CAM).

Position Description

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time position. The Gunsmithing curriculum is designed to provide students with the required skills needed to refurbish metal, wood, composites, and laminates as applicable to firearms, to diagnose malfunctions for repair, and to accomplish more complex custom gunsmithing tasks.

Course work includes manufacturing of tools used in the gunsmithing trade, restoration of firearms, stock making, barrel work, repair work, and custom work. The student will accomplish this work by performing actual gunsmithing tasks in a hands-on environment.

Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

Duties

Provide general classroom and clinical lab instruction both online and in a traditional setting according to the standards set by the department.

Teach face-to-face classes to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus.

Incorporate latest instructional technologies and interactive learning technologies in course delivery.

Assist in program recruitment.

Advise and register students who are in the program or aspire to be in the program.

Monitor and improve student retention.

Maintain class records.

Assist in the design and update of course syllabi, and participate in the on-going curriculum review, revision, and development process.

Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient laboratory environment.

Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Continually develop and improve skills through professional development.

Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
