Position Description

In support of the overall Learning College, the Health Sciences Student Success Coordinator helps allied health students successfully navigate the educational journey. 

 

The Health Sciences Student Success Coordinator is funded by a grant that continues through December 31, 2024.

Responsibilities

  1. Keeps list of prospective students for nursing.
  2. Collects and assists students in completing applications for nursing (A.D.N., P.N. & R.I.B.N.)
  3. Identifies at-risk students early in their matriculation.
  4. Implements strategies to support the student, including but not limited to, individual and group tutoring, instruction on study and test taking skills, time management and work/life balance.
  5. Mentors, encourages & supports students throughout their program of study.
  6. Collaborates with the program directors, faculty and dean to promote quality student learning experiences.
  7. Acts as the first point of contact /team resource concerning student performance issues and questions.
  8. Tracks metrics relevant to student progression through the program and the reason for stop out if relevant.
  9. Identifies and makes referrals to appropriate student support services including counseling, financial aid, Writing Center for writing and reading skills, student services and the Advising and Success Center for additional needs (ex. food, transportation). 
  10. Submits timely reports of student mentoring and success activities.
  11. Participates on assigned committees.
  12. Remains current and knows how to use Colleague, Aviso, the email system, and other technologies or software required to support students.
  13. Seeks opportunities to grow professionally by attending workshops, conferences, meetings, and forums, reading literature, research publications and other professional development opportunities.
  14. Conducts one-on-one post exam analysis with students that are referred by faculty.
  15. Analyzes student data to identify triggers indicating a need for proactive outreach to obtain a better understanding of challenges and success. 
  16. Engages students through a variety of communication channels. This may include video advising, inbound student calls and proactive outreach to students to deliver first contact resolution.
