RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Plan and deliver high-quality, evidence-based instruction to students in content areas: Math, writing, reading, social studies, science, digital literacy, and job readiness that are aligned with the NC Adult Education Content Standards. Provide contextualized instruction in whole-class/individual settings. Maintain daily lesson plans. Use methodologies that support different learning styles. Clearly communicate with students to convey areas for improvement on a regular basis
 
Monitor and manage student learning and performance through data. Complete all required documentation accurately and on time to meet program goals (ex: Web Attendance, EFL gains spreadsheets, LEIS forms, timesheets, etc). Adapt instruction based on assessment data. Our data and paperwork practices are a vital part of our program. It is imperative instructors are organized, complete their necessary paperwork, and ensure they have attention to detail with both paperwork and entering crucial data such as attendance.
 
Effectively communicate to motivate and engage learners. It is necessary for instructors to be available and accessible to students via email and phone. Instructors must be able to effectively stay connected to students. Maintain control of the classroom and convey our mission, policies, and procedures. Relate to a diverse student population of adult learners. Refer students to appropriate contacts for additional resources. Manage student behavior and enforce R-CCC’s code of conduct and attendance policies. Must have experience or be willing to learn and navigate online instruction. It is a necessity for our instructors to be open to engaging students in online mediums such as, but not limited to Zoom, Essentials Ed, Aztec, Edmentum, etc.
 
Pursue professionalism and continually build knowledge and skills. Model excellent attendance and punctuality in class. In the event of an absence, secure a substitute and communicate with the program coordinator. Communicate effectively with other staff members. Attend local professional staff development sessions each semester. Set a professional goal yearly.
 
Must be able to effectively integrate and build learners’ digital literacy skills. Consistently use online computer programs and manage students’ progress. Utilize projectors, smart boards, document camera, email, web attendance, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Moodle.
 
 
COMPETENCIES:
 
Ability to identify and explain concepts related to the course of study.
Ability to evaluate test scores of students and prescribe a course of study that places the
student in appropriate materials based on test scores.
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to design individualized educational plans.
Ability to teach a variety of content areas.
Ability to operate computers, printers, and audiovisual equipment.
Ability to maintain and write accurate records and reports.
Possess strong organizational oral and written communication skills.
Ability to be flexible in assuming a variable work schedule, which may include evenings/weekends.
 
SALARY:  
 
Salary commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, paid annual and sick leave, and the State of North Carolina Benefits Program.
