Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Education, or related field with teaching experience in Basic Skills, Pre-curriculum, middle school or high school is required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others are required.  Must be proficient in computer skills and exhibited organizational and multi-tasking skills.  Required to be a self-starter and a team player. 

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual is preferred.

Position Description

Instructional duties include student assessment; teaching Adult Basic Skills classes and High School Equivalency classes in the classroom, lab, and online; curriculum development; maintaining timely and accurate records; and recruiting and advising students.  Additional duties include serving on committees, and participating in college activities such as professional development, faculty meetings, convocation, and graduation.  Teaching assignments may include on-campus and off-campus during the day, evening, and weekend.  Must complete the NC Basic Skills Core Credential within two years of hire date and other required professional development on an annual basis.
