Minimum Qualifications

Education           

Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, business or related field.

 

Experience        

1 year minimum work experience in a Community College setting,

 

Knowledge and Skills    

● Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with diverse audiences

● Demonstrated skill set in critical thinking and problem solving concerning high school activities and issues.

● Experience working with students, parents, and administrators in K-12 and/or higher education settings

● Familiarity with public school and/or higher education administration

● Previous teaching and/or counseling experience

● Ability to coordinate and encourage collaboration

● Experience working with high school and/or college students

● Experience working with students who face barriers to academic success

● Experience working with first-generation, low-income, minority, or at-risk students

● Experience with data management

● FERPA compliance standards

Preferred Qualifications

2 years experience preferred.

Statement of Primary Purpose

To serve as primary High School partnership advisor and liaison for dedicated High Schools and selected home school students, with office locations on Jackson Campus.

 

Classification                                                                                                                                                               

Professional, full-time, non-exempt Staff

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

● Serve as primary contact advisor for dedicated high school students and parents and selected home school students   – includes advising and course registration.

● Stay current on Career & College Promise regulations, policies and procedures, NCCCS policies,

● Serve on committees, task forces, or other bodies that impact Career & College Promise

● Maintain a calendar record of student advising sessions.

● Track and report on high school student enrollment.

● Promote support systems to ensure student success

● Serve as an advocate in matters related to Career and College Promise Programs.

● Work closely with college departments to ensure high school students have appropriate access to college services.

● Support college faculty who teach high school students by maintaining strong communication regarding CCP procedures.

● Assist with processing CCP applications when necessary.

● Verify CCP eligibility and appropriate pathway for students enrolled at designated schools. Verification of eligibility for continuing CCP applicants.

● Process registration forms for designated high schools.

● Communicate issues and concerns raised by the CCP high school partners to supervisors so SCC administration can respond appropriately.

● Maintain the CCP website.

● Participate in senior night events and SCC’s High School Partnership Summit

● Assist the High School Partnership Coordinator in prepping fall seat based classes for service area high schools;

● Coordinate Road Shows at designated High Schools.

Physical Demands          

General office/administrative work. Regular travel among service area high schools.

 

Licensing Requirement

Valid NC Driver’s License

 

Working Conditions and Environment

Evening/weekend hours occasionally required. Local/ regional travel required on a regular basis. Additional travel occasionally required.

 

Equipment Operation

PC, general office equipment, some experience with teleconferencing preferred
