Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, business or related field.

2 years work experience in Community College student advising or related setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.

3 years preferred.

Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

To coordinate and promote Career and College Promise programs, serve as primary contact/liaison for dedicated high school related initiatives; Manage state audits and supervise the High School Partnership advisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact person as well as student recruiter and liaison for high school students in the SCC service area taking college classes – includes advising and course registration.

• Advance College Access programs and initiatives with high schools, the college, and the community.

• Verify CCP eligibility and appropriate pathway for students enrolled at designated schools. Verification of eligibility for continuing CCP applicants.

• Process CCP applications when necessary.

• Process registration forms for designated high schools.

• Work closely with public school personnel to assess needs and develop initiatives as appropriate to provide opportunities to high school students.

• Develop, evaluate, and maintain policies and procedures relative to Career and College Promise programs.

• Communicate issues and concerns raised by the CCP high school partners to supervisors so SCC administration can respond appropriately.

• Overall coordination, promotion and marketing of Career and College Promise programs.

• Stay current on Career & College Promise regulations, policies and procedures, high school curriculum, graduation requirements, NCCCS policies, as well as other regulations, policies and procedures that impact high school students.

• Serve on committees, task forces, or other bodies that impact Career & College Promise.

• Manage records of student participation and progress toward identified goals.

• Promote support systems to ensure student success.

• Serve as an advocate in matters related to Career and College Promise and educational reform.

• Work closely with college departments to ensure that high school students have appropriate access to college services.

• Work closely with Early College personnel on SCC policies and procedures.

• Support college faculty who teach high school students by maintaining strong communication regarding CCP procedures.

• Coordinate all activities and work with the Admissions Officer, Testing Coordinator and others to make certain all services and initiatives focused on high schools and high school students are coordinated and consistent with the college’s plan.

• Manage the state compliance audit.

• Supervise the High School Partnership Advisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Education           

Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, business or related field.

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience        

2 years work experience in Community College student advising or related setting.

3 years preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skills    

• Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with diverse audiences

• Experience working with students, parents, and administrators in K-12 and/or higher education settings

• Familiarity with public school and/or higher education administration

• Previous advising, success coaching or program administration experience.

• Ability to coordinate and encourage collaboration

• Experience in planning and executing marketing and recruitment

• Experience working with high school and/or college students

• Experience working with students who face barriers to academic success

• Experience working with first-generation, low-income, minority, or at-risk students.

• Experience with data management

• FERPA compliance standards

 

Physical Demands          

Typical campus environment, general office/administrative work, light lifting, standing for events.

 

Licensing Requirement

Valid NC Driver’s license

 

Working Conditions and Environment

Evening/weekend hours occasionally required. Local/regional travel required on a regular basis.  Additional travel occasionally required.

 

Equipment Operation

PC, general office equipment, some experience with teleconferencing preferred
