Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent and considerable knowledge of basic cleaning procedures, cleaning products, and janitorial equipment are required. Applicants must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively communicate with others. The ability to follow oral and written instructions and work productively within a team and independently is required. Basic working knowledge of computers and associated software is required. The Housekeeper must have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and a driving record sufficient to be insurable under the Wayne Community College auto insurance policy. The Candidate must be able to walk over extended distances carrying equipment weighing over 20 pounds and be able to safely lift heavy objects, such as full trash bags.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual and a National Career Readiness Certificate are preferred.
Position Description
The Housekeeper is responsible for sweeping and mopping floors, daily vacuuming, and keeping restrooms clean, sanitized, and equipped with necessary items. Duties include emptying and cleaning trash containers; washing windows and glass doors daily; dusting furniture, blinds, and equipment routinely; and responsible for sweeping and cleaning outside stairwells, colonnades, entrances to assigned buildings, and adjacent flowerbeds. Additional duties include assisting in the set-up of tables, chairs, and other preparation for special events. The Housekeeper will perform other related duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor and or the Superintendent of Facilities and Grounds. This position reports directly to the Day Housekeeping Supervisor.
