Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution is required. The Housekeeper must be able to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions and work independently or in a team environment. The applicant must have considerable knowledge of basic cleaning procedures, cleaning products, and janitorial equipment. Candidates must have a basic working knowledge of computers and associated software. A valid North Carolina Driver’s License and a driving record that allows the applicant to be insurable under Wayne Community College’s auto insurance policy are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual and National Career Readiness Certificate are preferred.
Position Description
Duties include sweeping and mopping floors, daily vacuuming, and keeping restrooms clean, sanitized, and equipped with necessary items. The Housekeeper will empty and clean trash containers, wash windows and glass doors daily, dust furniture, blinds, and equipment routinely; and will be responsible for sweeping and cleaning outside stairwells, colonnades, entrances to assigned buildings, and adjacent flowerbeds. Duties include assisting in the set-up of tables/chairs, assisting in preparation for special events, and performing other related duties as assigned. The Housekeeper must be able to walk over extended distances carrying equipment weighing in excess of 20 lbs. and be able to safely lift heavy objects such as full trash bags. This position will report directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
