A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One year of experience in housekeeping or related work is required. Must be able to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions, and work independently or in a team environment. Experience serving in a supervisory or team lead position is required. Must have considerable knowledge of basic housekeeping cleaning procedures, cleaning products, janitorial equipment, and associated safety practices. Candidates must have an advanced working knowledge of computers and associated software. A valid North Carolina Driver’s License and a driving record that allows the applicant to be insurable under WCC’s auto insurance policy is required.
An Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English and a National Career Readiness Certificate are preferred.
The primary responsibility is to supervise the housekeeping staff covering 14 buildings and 28 floors. This is a working supervisory position, and the individual will be expected to actively participate in the housekeeping rotation and duties, as needed. Tasks include assigning buildings and floors, monitoring the performance of staff, training staff, taking corrective action as needed, inventorying and maintaining supplies at sufficient levels, purchasing and reconciling billing accounts, and other general housekeeping tasks. This position reports directly to the Facilities and Grounds Superintendent. Applicants must be able to walk over extended distances carrying equipment weighing in excess of 20 lbs. and be able to safely lift heavy objects such as full trash bags.
