Expected Work Hours

Mondays through Fridays- 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with one hour for lunch for a minimum of a 40-hour work week established to allow the employee to adequately fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working preferably in a Human Resources office, ITS department, or related field.

Position Description

The HR Generalist, Employment is responsible for new hire onboarding, data entry, personnel change entry, file management, and monthly reporting. The HR Generalist, Employment works closely with the Director to ensure timely communication of new hires and personnel changes with the appropriate campus partners.

1. Process employee information in the Colleague information software system and ensure that accompanying documentation is on file;
 

2. Establish and maintain employee position codes in the Colleague system, ensuring that correct budget codes are applied and used by college personnel;
 

3. Ensure all documentation is in place for new hire files and create new hires information in the Colleague system;
 

4. Process all personnel changes (status and pay changes) in the Colleague system as needed;

5. Assist in developing, recommending, and implementing human resources-related processes, procedures, and policies;
 

6. Communicate college policies and procedures to employees and others upon request or as necessary;
 

7. Ensures that the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) process is performed and employment authorization is obtained for every new employee within the time mandated by the US Department of Homeland Security;
 

8. Assist the Director with the college’s annual Staff Information Report and IPEDS report submissions;
 

9. Enter transcripts into Colleague as received;
 

10. Performs background checks on all new hires and re-hires for the college with the exception of the Campus Police and the Public Safety Department;
 

11. Assist Director with the training of HR processes to college personnel;
 

18. Maintain lists of new hires, resignations, and terminations;
 

19. Maintain Voluntary Shared Leave reporting in Colleague;
 

24. Assist in the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources Department as necessary;
 

25. Additional duties as assigned by the Director; and
 

26. This position is considered essential when and if a State of Emergency is declared by the President.
