Associate’s degree in Office Management, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of one year of experience working in an office setting with a preference for experience in a Human Resources office.

Position Description

Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an HR Specialist for HRTM Support. The HR Specialist, HRTM Support is responsible for monitoring the HRTM Service Center tickets and Human Resources email, processing benefits enrollments and changes, tracking HR forms and processes to completion, and communicating to the appropriate HR/BO staff for updates. The HR Specialist, HRTM Service Center works closely with the Director to ensure timely communication of processes and resolutions with the appropriate campus partners.

Examples of Duties

  1. Monitors the HumanResources@durhamtech.edu email and HRTM Service Center tickets, answer simple routine questions while including the appropriate HRTM staff, triage and forward emails and assign tickets as appropriate, and work with other HRTM staff to track questions and requests through to resolution.
  2. Submit Benefits enrollments and changes in the appropriate vendor system and forward concerns to the Sr. HR Generalist/Director as appropriate;
  3. Manages the employee credentialing process and enters transcripts into Colleague as received;
  4. Assist the HR Generalist, Employment with background checks and I-9/EVerify processing, as needed and ensuring that all documentation is in place for new hires, up to and including benefits enrollments and credentialing records; 
  5. Maintain lists of new hires (including Foreign Nationals), resignations, and terminations and communicates employee information with the appropriate campus partners. 
  6. Assist HR Generalist, HRIS Analyst with file audits, records requests, and minor systems requests;
  7. Tracks FMLA and ADA processes and provides reports to the Director for employee communication.
  8. Guides employees to the appropriate forms and tracks process to resolution.
  9. Provide status reports of HRTM processes to the appropriate HR/BO partner and confirm for employees.
  10. Triage, troubleshoots, and escalate employee documentation and process issues as appropriate.
  11. Communicate college policies and procedures to employees and others upon request or as necessary;
  12. Must complete mandatory training; 
  13. Additional duties as assigned by the Director;
  14. This position is considered essential when and if a State of Emergency is declared by the President.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma with at least 5 years of experience working in a Human Resources office or
Associate’s degree in Office Management, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of one year of experience working in an office setting with a preference for experience in a Human Resources office.

  • Demonstrated competence in computer skills appropriate to the position of HR Specialist, HRTM Service Center

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In general, the work of the Human Resources Coordinator includes performing general office duties requiring the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Visits to other campus departments and other campus locations may be required.   • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time;

Normal Working Hours:  

Mondays through Fridays- 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with one-hour for lunch for a minimum of a 40-hour work week established to allow the employee to adequately fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities. Additional hours on evenings and/or weekends may be necessary on occasion. Summer schedules may vary to enable four-day or four and one half-day work weeks.
