A Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of Human Resources experience OR an Associate degree and at least 3 years of experience in human resources. Degrees and hours must be from a regionally accredited college or university. Ability to use technology including applicant tracking software.
Experience working in the education field, preferably in a North Carolina Community College. Professional certification such as PHR or SPHR preferred. Experience with PeopleAdmin or other human resource information system.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while acting as a subject matter expert in one or more HR functional areas including benefits, recruitment and professional development activities.
Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and the public, foster and promote teamwork; and maintain a positive working environment within the Human Resources department.
Assist with recruitment, seeking the most effective platforms for advertising difficult positions. Including screening and scheduling candidates for interviews. Answer questions and review with managers the recruiting process.
Conduct employee and supervisor training including benefits, policies and procedures and prevention of harassment and discrimination.
Responsible for new hire paperwork and orientation and completing the institutional clearance process for employees who leave employment with the College.
Responsible for leave management of employees and inqueries related to leaves.
Conduct open enrollment and other benefit-related programs as needed.
Assist employees with questions related to a broad spectrum of human resources issues, interprets policy, and may facilitate the resolution of employee relations issues as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements.
Setup, maintain, and audit personnel files, I-9s, Background checks, etc.
Process new employee into the database system, set up benefits and maintains HRIS records.
Maintain spreadsheets and reports for tracking various data points including hires, terminations, training and other EEO data.
Assist with various on-going administrative tasks and functions, including preparing and maintaining personnel and various other files for employees.
Assist with special projects as requested, such as coordinating classes for leadership training, HR audits and various compliance projects.
Serve on institutional committees as assigned.
Assist HR Director with continuous improvement of the HR functions and processes.
Handling various HR related requests like Employment verification, name address change and other administrative matters.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
