Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of one to two years Human Resource professional experience required.  Bachelor’s degree in human resource, or PHR certification, may replace required experience  
  • Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with employees, retirees, students, college community and the public
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality are imperative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Three years human resource experience
  • PHR (Professional in Human Resources Certification)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use Datatel or HRIS database systems and Internet

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

 

The generalist provides support to the Human Resources office as well as excellent customer service to employees and the general public in a timely, cooperative, courteous, and professional manner.  The primary responsibility will consist of managing the datatel system and files making sure all employee information is up to date and accurate.  In addition this position backs up the human resource director in regards to human resource activities, processes, policies, and procedures; prepares various correspondence and memoranda; coordinates activities related to area of assignment.  Compliance and confidentiality is extremely imperative.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages the datatel system, assuring all information is entered accurately and timely.  Runs reports and analyzes data to check for accuracy.  Makes suggestion for improvements.
  • Works with the payroll coordinator assuring pay and position codes are updated as needed, and accurate.
  • Processes EAC and CARFs as needed, assuring the appropriate signatures are obtained.
  • Assists with coordinating employee events, including open enrollment, health fairs, opening day events and others as needed.
  • Backs up the HR Director in her/his absence for benefit administration and other employee related items.
  • Maintains the file room, assuring files are maintained per company policy.
  • Responds to employee verification requests and other requests for information.
  • Prepares a variety of reports including technical reports and status reports pertaining to human resource management programs and activities.
  • Conducts initial new employee orientation for purposes of ensuring appropriate completion of payroll and benefit documentation.
  • Reads, understand, and reviews documents for accuracy and relevant information, proofreads and edits draft reports or correspondence for errors in grammar or structure.
  • Completes monthly and year-end reports regarding terminations, transfers, and new hire.
  • Maintains HR policy boards, making sure all are in compliance.
  • Assists the HR Director with annual reports (Staff Information, Ipeds, ACA)
  • 90 day performance review coordination
  • Annual review tracking
  • Other duties as assigned.
