Required:    Two years work experience in an office environment with current knowledge of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications.

Previous experience (1-2 years) working in the field of Human Resources with emphasis in employment or recruiting: demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; general knowledge of Human Resource practices and procedures; effective oral and written communication skills, superior interpersonal and team-oriented skills.

Position Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Provides human resources assistance in-person, via email and on the telephone to visitors, candidates for employment, and members of the college campus.  

  • Prepares and disseminates job vacancy announcements for regular full-time, regular part-time and adjunct faculty positions via JSCCs Internet web site.   Assists with preparation and dissemination of correspondence related to employment applications, position openings, applications and employment dispositions.  
  • Communicates with supervisors and Director of Human Resources throughout the process regarding recruitment issues.
  •  Serve as Program Administrator for the BASIC Pilot Program (E-Verify) for the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration. 
  • Generates I-9 reports and documents tracking of foreign nationals utilizing Windstar and e-Verify program software.  Provides follow-up in the process.  
  • Sorts and reviews applications through the applicant tracking system NEOGOV as they arrive on a daily basis. Manages the flow of paper applications for part-time positions. Maintains a filing system that retains qualified applications for one year. 
  • Compiles and provides reports to Director of Human Resources regarding each position and EEO information. 
  • Responsible for working along with hiring supervisor to coordinate hiring process, interviews, interview packets, and final recommendations to be presented to Director of Human Resources for final approval. 
  • Responsible for annual payroll training of employees on campus charged with the duties of payroll in their department. 
  • Maintains complete confidentiality regarding applicant and/or employee information. 
  • Maintains employee official personnel files by keeping all filing up-to-date. Determines archive dates so that as files of employees who no longer work here reaches their archive date, they can be removed from local files and sent to archives in Raleigh, NC. 
  • Processes all documentation, contracts, and time sheets for part-time payroll.  
  • Supports the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience. 
  • Verifies timekeeping records and consults with employees about any discrepancies.
  • Analyzes human resources information by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information
  • Record employee complaints, questions and concerns about payroll services and communicate those issues to HR Director.
  • Completes special projects regarding part-time employee hiring and costs associated with part-time employees.
  • Ensure the processing of new hire and temporary employees. Ensures all paperwork has been submitted. Determines hourly pay for part-time employees. 
  • Assist with professional development training and provide support to HR team members 
  • Works with the Associate Director of Human Resources to ensure proper paperwork and documentation has been completed for full-time and part-time payroll processing. 
  • Assists the Associate Director of Human Resources Director with updates and maintenance of personnel information. 
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position.
  • Assist with equipment and software maintenance. 
  • Maintain security of personal computer access. 
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned. 
  • Serve on college committees.
