Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree in a Human Services discipline such as counseling psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy from a regionally accredited college/university is required. Work experience in the field is required. Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills are required. Proficiency with commonly used computer software is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years or more of recent experience in a human services practice setting and/or as an instructor in human services is preferred. A clinical practice license such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is preferred. Community college or post-secondary teaching experience is preferred. Experience with clinical supervision; experience with assessment of student learning outcomes; experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems; community college teaching or training experience is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.
Position Description
The Human Services Faculty/Lead Instructor position requires teaching 17-22 contact hours per semester. This faculty member will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, assisting in the development of courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. The Lead Instructor will be responsible for quality instruction, and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. This position demonstrates a commitment to creating a culture that encourages excellence, professional development, continued competence in areas of responsibility, and an understanding of diverse backgrounds of students and employees.
