Minimum Qualifications
Eduction: Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services discipline such as counseling, psychology, social work or marriage and family therapy from a regionally accredited college/university.
Experience: Three years of recent experience in a human services practice setting and/or as an instructor in human services. Post-secondary teaching or industry training experience in human services, conducting training sessions or conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars (e.g. substance abuse, mental health).
Preferred Qualifications
A current substance abuse certification such as Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) is preferred.
Position Description
To provide instruction in the fields of counseling, psychology, social work and marriage/family therapy along with various aspects of the same at Pamlico Correctional Institution.
Teaching faculty are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.
At Pamlico Correctional Institution, this individual will develop, prepare, and teach Human Services Technology courses within the department as well as being responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning development, and general effectiveness of work based learning experiences for students enrolled in the Human Services Technology program. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the human services field of study and human services in the health/mental health and substance abuse industry. The full time Human Services Technology instructor participates in the implementation, planning evaluation and revision of the program curriculum. The faculty member participates in activities that support institutional goals.
