Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Human Services

 

Knowledge and Skills    

2-3 years teaching experience

Demonstrated expertise in Human Services field

Licensing Requirement

      • Certification in Social Work or Licensed Professional Counselor.
      • Certified Clinical Supervisor.
      • Valid NC Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

2-3 years teaching experience, community college setting preferred

Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

Provide instructional and administrative services related to the Human Services Technology and Human Services Technology Substance Abuse programs to faculty, staff and students

 

Classification

Curriculum faculty, full-time, exempt.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensure programs and courses are up-to-date, abreast of technology, and in compliance with state and national accreditation standards.
  • Initiate curriculum updates and revisions.
  • Assist in course offerings and schedules.
  • Assist in budget formation/control/expenditures for:
    • Travel (local &/or overnight)
    • Supplies
    • Equipment
    • Learning Resource Center (LRC) holdings
  • Inventory equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain advisory committee to include:
    • Recommend membership
    • Hold annual meetings
    • Maintain records
  • Assist in recruiting and training qualified instructors.
  • Complete or assist with program reports, including but not limited to, annual program review, outcomes assessment, and advanced planning document.
  • Establish/maintain accreditation standards to include (if appropriate):
    • Self-study
    • Site visits
    • Annual reports
  • Maintain teaching course load in compliance with college and accreditation workload policy
  • Must be available to teach one summer session

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cooperative Education Instruction-- serve as liaison between the Southwestern Community College and the co-op education sites and be responsible for the establishment of sites and faculty standards under the direction of the program director.
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and co-op facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education           

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Human Services

 

Knowledge and Skills

Physical Demands          

Typical campus environment.  Standing required in classroom instruction.

Working Conditions and Environment

 Travel may be necessary to for site visits and training.
