Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to understand technology and automation concepts encompassed in Industrial Maintenance and System Technology programs for Workforce Development and Curriculum.   

Knowledge of proper classroom management.

Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of learning objectives.   

Strong written and oral communication skills   

Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task with a demonstrated commitment to follow-through expeditiously   

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills  

Ability to select training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the intended audience   

Ability to communicate effectively through speech and writing.

Ability to identify, communicate, and analyze problems.

Ability to take ownership and utilize constructive feedback.

Must be punctual, professional, and ethically conduct oneself.

Ability to work respectfully within a team environment.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities.






Required:   Certificate or Diploma from a regionally accredited institution in Industrial Systems Technology or a qualifying field and 5 years of Industrial Systems Technology experience. Good communication skills. 


Preferred:  Associate degree in Industrial Systems Technology or a qualifying field. Manufacturer Specific Programmable Logic Controller certifications, NMS, IPC certification, OSHA 10/30 MSSC certification, and NCCER Instructor certifications.




Preferred:  Considerable directly related work experience. Some teaching experience. Some experience with instructional delivery via distance learning; Hydraulics experience.

Position Description

Salary Commensurate with Education and Experience 

Plan, prepare, and provide instruction for industrial maintenance students.  Certificate or Diploma in Industrial Systems Technology or related field and minimum of five years of industry experience required.  Experience with PLC, Hydraulics, CNC preferred, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Day to day operations for this position will report to the Director of Small Business Center/WestPark Programs. This position will report to the Dean of Business and Industry.

  • Provide effective learning experiences for students using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Give students at the beginning of each course a course outline/syllabus which lists measurable learning objectives and expected outcomes for the course.
  • Develop and submit up-to-date course outlines to the Department Chair/AVP of Workforce Development and Chief Academic Officer prior to the course being taught.
  • Assess on a regular basis the success rate of students in each class taught and the retention and graduation rate of all advisees and submit this information to the respective department chair in May of each year.
  • Contact students who are absent from class.
  • Schedule regular student contact hours and post the schedule prior to the end of the add period.
  • Serve as curriculum student advisor as assigned and verify readiness for graduation.
  • Maintain classroom environment and report problems in a timely manner.
  • Maintain shop and lab safety in compliance with current safety regulations.
  • Safeguard and keep an accurate inventory of instructional and office equipment and report any irregularities to the department chair.
  • Leave classrooms suitable for the next class.
  • Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and submit reports according to the established schedule.
  • Perform assigned duties during registration and extended registration.
  • Present to the respective Department Chair recommendations for improving the instructional programs.
  • Provide input to the Department Chair as to supply, textbook, resource, and equipment needs for instructional purposes.
  • Attend all scheduled faculty meetings unless there is a conflict with a scheduled class.
  • Serve on College committees and fulfill committee assignments as approved by supervisor.
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum review and formal evaluation and implement necessary changes for improvement.
  • Stay abreast of changes in technology and obtain recognized certification(s) as required for the program.
  • Provide technology-based instructional methodologies.
  • Instruct, as needed, online or technology-based course(s).
  • Maintains equipment, including updates on all equipment.   
  • Research equipment needs for classes and makes recommendations for purchases.
  • Implement an Industry-Based Advisory Committee for input and employer support of the program.
  • Serves on college committees as directed by supervisor.
  • Acquires computer/technology competencies as appropriate to the position;
  • Assists with equipment and software maintenance;
  • Maintains security of personal computer access;
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
