Minimum Qualifications

 

• A minimum of:
o A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Systems Technology, with a concentration of courses in CNC machining – or
o An Associate’s degree in Industrial Systems Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, or related field from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education; currently valid NIMS CNC credential, or equivalent; and five (5) or more years of full-time equivalent experience in Industrial Systems Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, or related field – or
o Documentation of significant and extensive experience or contributions to Industrial Systems Technology or related disciplines as demonstrated through: currently valid NIMS CNC credential, or equivalent; work experience; technical and performance competency; records of publications; or other applicable qualifying credentials.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Two or more years of experience with manual machining, either in a classroom or work setting
• Two or more years of experience in an industrial maintenance setting
• Two or more years of industry experience with residential, industrial, and commercial electrical wiring based on NEC code, either in a classroom or work setting
• One or more years of experience working with engineering drawings, either in a classroom or work setting
• One or more years of experience working with 5-axis automation, either in a classroom or work setting
• Minimum of the equivalent of one academic year of full-time teaching experience in a community college or high school CTE program setting
• Experience with course development
• Familiarity with a course management systems such as Moodle
• Knowledge of lab facilitation procedures
• Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments
• Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth

Position Description

Job Description

The Industrial Systems Technology Instructor/Lab Facilitator is a 12-month, full-time position located primarily at the Tyson Family Center for Technology in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Department Chair for Computer and Industrial Technologies, the Industrial Systems Technology Instructor/Lab Facilitator is an instructional support position that provides instruction, lab facilitation, and course development in support of curriculum and continuing education courses taught within the School of Professional Occupations and Public Services. Licenses and/or certifications used for credentialing purposes must be kept current by the employee, unless noted otherwise.

Job Duties

• Create classroom activities and learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations.
• Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Work well with individuals of diverse backgrounds

• Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
• Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
• Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities
• Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in high school and community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a corrections setting (Anson county)
• Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online
• Monitor laboratory activities; enforce rules and regulations and ensure a safe lab environment
• Prepare lab facility for classes and ensure that work areas are clean and neat; ensure that equipment, materials, and handouts are laid out for lab classes
• Assist in maintaining lab equipment; perform simple maintenance, clean and store equipment when not in use, monitor condition, and notify supervisor of any needed repairs
• Monitor inventory of lab materials and supplies, initiate ordering process as needed.
• Research and evaluate new lab equipment, and make recommendations regarding purchase decisions
• Maintain a library of lab materials
• Maintain records of laboratory activities
• Collaborate in the design of new lab activities and experiences for the students.
• Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair, the dean, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs
