Minimum Qualifications
An Associates of Applied Science degree in Information Systems or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Must have at least one year of experience with server hardware, software, and networking, preferably in an academic setting at the post-secondary level. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate well with staff, students, and the public. At least one year of experience with supporting an IT helpdesk environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications
National Career Readiness Certificate and Bilingual are preferred.
Position Description
The Infrastructure Support Technician supports others with the administration of the IT server infrastructure. The IST installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates, and installs patches, and resolves software related problems. The position maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Performs activities that include planning, configuration, installation, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Unix and Windows servers, and related applications. This position will assist in installing new network equipment, loading appropriate software, and setting up network components for customer use. This also includes installing and troubleshooting the low voltage and audio/video infrastructures The Infrastructure Support Technician would also resolve incoming requests for service and support from the service desk for a designated area of responsibility. The Technician would also use technical expertise and understanding of business needs to evaluate and resolve IT incident and problem service desk tickets.
