Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the use of other office equipment to include fax machine, photocopier, calculator, scanner, videoconferencing and telephone systems
  • Excellent typing, public relations, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality is required
  • Working knowledge of the Datatel Colleague system preferred

Position Description

The Instructional Assistant for Public Safety Programs provides instructional and administrative support to the Emergency Medical Sciences Program and the Workforce Development Health-related Programs. This position also provides support to other public safety programs as needed. This position reports to the Director of Emergency Medical Sciences. 

The duties of the Instructional Assistant – Public Safety Programs include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Director of Emergency Medical Sciences, and other directors as requested, with maintaining compliance with all related standards and LCC operating guidelines 
  • Process pre- and post- delivery reports, including student academic requirements
  • Work with the Director to develop program area reports as requested for accreditation and NCCCS reporting
  • Build course sections, key student registrations, and enter demographic information into Colleague as requested
  • Maintain individual student files in accordance with the Programs' standards 
  • Prepare instructor payroll reports for submission to the Director
  • Communicate with a broad range of faculty, staff, students, and external groups
  • Forward any supply/equipment requisitions requested by the program area directors and instructors to the dean's office 
  • Greet students and provide assistance when needed 
  • Maintain, audit, and submit course files for assigned courses to the dean’s office
  • Create spreadsheets or documents using Microsoft Office as requested 
  • Assist with keeping adequate inventory of supplies for instructor use

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment 
  • Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking 
  • Must be able to lift and move 35 pounds or more
