Minimum Qualifications

Required Experience: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in curriculum subject area of demand, instructional design, new media, instructional technology, educational technology, or related field. At least two (2) years of experience with a learning management system. At least two (2) years of teaching experience. At least two (2) years of online teaching experience. At least one (1) year of experience using the Quality Matters rubric. Completed the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric and Peer Course Reviewer courses.

Preferred Experience and Training: Community college teaching experience in a subject area of demand. Higher education faculty development experience. At least two (2) years of experience using the Quality Matters rubric. Obtained or willing to obtain the Quality Matters Coordinators Certification. Obtained or willing to obtain the Master Reviewer Certification.

Position Description

The Instructional Designer will support faculty in developing, designing, and delivering courses by selecting appropriate media and presentation tools for course delivery; therefore, enhancing effective teaching strategies which engage students and foster their success. The Instructional Designer will establish and nurture productive, collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to create and maintain resources for instruction. Additionally, the Instructional Designer will coordinate and deliver professional development on instructional design, including, but not limited to, effective course design and use, accessibility, teaching frameworks, and learning management system functions and content. Moreover, the Instructional Designer will collaborate with the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, program directors, and coordinators to coordinate the course peer-review process to improve the quality of courses, instructor performance and increase student success and retention.
