Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field
· Demonstrated knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
· Experience in lesson development and curriculum planning
· Basic HTML/CSS programming knowledge
· Experience working within a Learning Management System
· Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
Preferred Qualifications
· 2+ years of work experience in instructional design and/or instructional technology
· Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard
· Audio/video editing skills and experience with authoring software (Storyline 360, Captivate)
· Master degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field
Position Description
Job Description
The Instructional Designer is a part-time position (up to 25 hours per week) located on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Director of eLearning, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts to visualize course content, interpret learner needs, and develop educational content for deployment to the local Learning Management System (LMS). This role will require time-management and communication skills, flexibility as it pertains to meeting with subject matter experts (SMEs) for collaboration, and the ability to complete projects by established deadlines.
Job Duties
· Create engaging learning activities/content that supports learner retention
· Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
· Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
· Ability to work a flexible schedule to collaborate with faculty as subject matter experts
· Collaborate with subject matter experts on assessment criteria and instrumentation
· Collaborate with SP Studio personnel to create audio/visual content
· Provide clear timelines and meet delivery dates for assigned projects
· Adhere to content standards established locally, by state entities, and by accrediting bodies
· Adhere to prevailing copyright laws and ADA policies in the process of resource construction
· Maintain professional decorum and respond to communications according to established college policies
