Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as BlackBoard.

Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in related field OR a Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of Associates degree/Industry Certification in a respective field.

Three years of post-secondary teaching experience teaching medical office administration including intermediate CPT and ICD-10 coding courses

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Educational or Medical-related Technology.

Prior supervisory experience in an academic setting

Community College teaching experience

CPC or CCS-P certification or willingness to obtain certification within one year of employment

Other technical/instructional industry recognized certifications such as MOS, CEHRS, CBCS, CMAA

Online teaching experience with a learning management system, preferably Blackboard

Position Description

Responsible for providing effective instruction for the curriculum and assisting the division Dean and Administrative Department Head as the first-line manager of personnel, supplies, equipment, and facilities of department.


 Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

* Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner

* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

* Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour

* Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment

* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner

* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course

* Review faculty and adjunct applications and make recommendations

* Lead and mentor instructors and adjuncts

* Make budget recommendations

* Plan and conduct monthly program meetings as needed

*Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction

Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course

Maintains regular office hours

Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching

Serves on college or department committees as needed

Attends professional development opportunities when possible

Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate

Participate in graduation exercises

Promotes continuous improvement by completing an annual benchmark project on an individual or group basis
