Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have five years of experience as an overhead Electrical Lineworker
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Electrical Lineworkers
  • Experience supervising Electrical Lineworkers
  • Completed a Journeyman Level Electrical Lineworker Program
  • Valid CDL License

Position Description

This position is responsible for providing regular instruction, as well as, developing and updating courses taught in a classroom environment and hands on field training. Coursework, most of which is hands-on, will include safe line truck operations, pole climbing safety, line construction, single phase to three phase conversion, transformer installation and service, and other related topics. Will also recommend changes to the curriculum and keep the outdoor lab site (pole field) in a safe condition.

  • Assist with Apprentice Line Technician program development, improvement, revisions, and evaluations
  • Assist with the development of new portions of the Apprentice Line Technician program
  • Assist with the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Teach classroom and field training for Apprentice Line Technician students
  • Organize and maintain a clean and efficient classroom and laboratory setting; model and instruct students on the importance of a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Assume responsibilities for management of course records, attendance, accident reports, grades, etc.
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Perform data entry functions as necessary
  • Assess material, supply and equipment needs for the program and submit requisitions for the ordering of supplies and equipment to maintain an inventory
  • Assist and participate in the preparation and development of class materials
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for improving service delivery, guidelines, and procedures
  • Maintain files for develop and maintain a working and professional relationship with utility employers, students, partnering agencies, college staff and the public
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Other duties as assigned
