Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings.
- Demonstrated competencies in a comprehensive variety of areas related to Aviation Mechanics.
- At least 2 years of work experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Aviation Systems Technology or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- FAA Inspection Authorization Certification.
- Work experience at a Part 145 Repair Station or equivalent.

The role of an Instructor, Aviation Systems Technology is to provide knowledge in his/her field of expertise and to promote various student-centered learning activities that will stimulate an interest in critical thinking and a desire for life-long learning. Various teaching strategies, learning styles and delivery methods including new technology systems will be utilized to reach this goal.
The Instructor, Aviation Systems Technology receives supervision form the Instructor/ Program Coordinator, Aviation Systems Technology.
Examples of Duties:
- Prepare, teach and evaluate assigned instructional courses (classroom, lab,) based on assigned teaching
- Adhere to assigned teaching load/hours. This can include day or evening courses.
- Revise course shells each term or creates new shells as needed.
- Integrate new technology in instructional delivery methods.
- Adhere to/enforce policies and procedures related to academic area.
- Maintain accurate records of students' attendance and performance.
- Maintain weekly office hours.
- Serve as a student academic advisor for the program and division.
- Keep students advised of their progress in class and when needed, refer students to the Academic Support Center for assistance.
- Write letters of recommendations for students on request if appropriate.
- Stay abreast of new developments and changes in academic field.
- Participate in the marketing of the programs and the recruitment of students for the program: local business, high schools and other local partners and events.
- Participate, as requested, in the hiring of full-time faculty and staff utilized by the program and/or the College.
- Communicate regularly (formally and informally) with Program Coordinator.
- Ensure program nominations for student awards are submitted as requested.
- Maintain curriculum standards for all courses and adheres to all FAA regulations and guidelines.
- Participate and make recommendations in the development of new course and program applications in conjunction to the Program Coordinator.
- Review and revise, if necessary, program course syllabi annually.
- Work with the Program Coordinator to ensure that textbook orders are placed in a timely manner for select program courses.
- Attend meetings of the Advisory Committee at least once a year. Provides information, data, and documentation for annual program reviews, UAPs, and SLO's as requested.
- Serve on college-wide and ad hoc committees as assigned/elected.
- Attend college and/or administrative meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
