Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree with course work emphasis in industrial technologies; supplemented by minimum three (3) to five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes machining or industrial maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Physical Ability: Tasks involve regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).

 

Dexterity: Requires the ability to perform skilled coordinated movements.

Knowledge of Work: Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of Pitt Community College as such pertains to the performance of the essential duties of Computer Integrated Machining Instructor position. Development of course outlines, teaching plans, and course descriptions; maintaining current course outlines, instructional aids, and course information; set-up, programming, and maintenance of departmental equipment; participating in the marketing of the Industrial Technology Department programs locally and globally; participating in the professional organizations representative of the profession; participating in professional development activities, assisting in the continuing evaluation of the curriculum; attending all departmental faculty and advisory committee meetings. Dedication to student involvement including: student recruiting, advising, registration, and the placement of students in the profession. Has thorough knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertains to work responsibilities.  Responsibilities also include successfully completing other duties not outlined above as assigned by Department Chairperson.

 

Quality of Work: Maintains high standards of accuracy in performing duties and responsibilities. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Maintains quality communication and interaction with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, and any external entities with whom position interacts.

 

Quantity of Work: Performs described Essential Functions and related assignments efficiently and effectively in a manner to produce a quantity of work which consistently meets established standards and expectations.

 

Dependability: Assumes responsibility for completion of assigned functions. Position Description

Under general direction, Instructor in the Computer-Integrated Machining program will be teaching assigned courses in Computer-Integrated Machining as well as other industrial technology courses required for AAS degree programs in the department; teaching both on-site and distance education courses; developing, planning, and implementing assigned courses in the Computer Integrated Machining curriculum. This position reports to the Department Chair of CIM and Welding Technology.

Teaches assigned courses in Computer-Integrated Machining as assigned.

 

Attends professional organization meetings; represents program in industrial meetings.

 

Researches and purchases new equipment.

 

Supervises the development of new courses; researches new technology used in updating and developing courses; supervises the selection and review of text books.

 

Develops and coordinates program marketing strategies.

 

Develops and administers student testing; conducts student advisement; prepares program class scheduling; evaluates student transcripts.

 

Oversees the purchasing and stocking of laboratory supplies.

 

Designs mechanical parts used for machining projects and experiments.

 

Supervise the installation of computer laboratory equipment and software.

 

Conducts instruction and experiments for department. 

 

Types administrative and instructional documents.

 

Attends internal faculty meetings.

 

Supplies advice to other employees about machining and maintenance processes and

procedures.

 

Performs related duties as directed.
