Position Description

The cosmetology instructor’s primary responsibility is to maintain excellence in instructing students in his/her curriculum subject with the express goal of attaining certain student learning outcomes. In addition to the primary responsibility, Instructors will be required to complete various classroom administrative duties as well as duties helpful to satisfy the goals and objectives of WCC including committee service and professional development. This is a full-time, 12-month position housed at the Ashe Campus. This position may require weekend and evening hours
 

Duties include:

  1. Develop and teach courses in the cosmetology program, including but not limited to basic and advanced hairstyling, salon management, cosmetician science, nail technology, esthetics, instructor training, and fashion concepts.
  2. Register and enroll new and current students.
  3. Model student expectations including effective communication, dependability, critical thinking, positive customer service, and leadership.
  4. Assist the coordinator with operations of salon retail operations related to the instructional cosmetology lab, including handling payment transactions, making deposits, and ordering supplies and products.
  5. Enforce safety and NC Board of Cosmetic Arts regulations.
  6. Prepare and maintain documentation, including student records.
  7. Assist with marketing the cosmetology program and the related salon/lab operations.
  8. Support the college’s commitment to enhance student learning by increasing student disposition to use critical thinking skills via professional development activities.
  9. Serve on college committees as assigned.
  10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
