Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:
 

  • Journeyman Electrician certified by US Department of Labor or North Carolina Electrical License or reciprocating state and ten (10) years of experience in Electrical Work

OR

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Systems Technology and five years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences:

  • Journeyman Electrician certified by US Department of Labor
  • Instructor Certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)

Position Description

Position Description

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Electrical Apprenticeship courses in Continuing Education Services. Openings in various areas may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Prepares instruction that reflects appropriate learning objectives

*Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course

*Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour

*Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner

Uses formative and simulative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching

Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction

Maintains communication with course committee instructors and participates in instructional discussions

Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology

Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment

Grades and returns student work in a timely manner 

Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course

Supports the Department, Division, and College goals, providing requesting data in a timely manner

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff

Working knowledge of MS Office products

Working knowledge of the Electrical trade
