Minimum Qualifications
Required Training and Experience: Five years of experience in firefighting. NCDOI/OSFM Firefighter certified for three years. NCDOI/OSFM Qualified Firefighter Instructor. High School Diploma or equivalency.
Preferred Training and Experience: NCOEMS Level 1 EMT or Paramedic Instructor. American Heart Association BLS Instructor. NCDOI/OSFM Qualified Emergency Vehicle Driver Instructor. NCDOI/OSFM Qualified HazMat Operations Instructor. Experience in teaching and/or counseling at a post-secondary level. Associate degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, Public Safety or other related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

Position Description
Instructor, Fire/EMS, provides accessible, quality learning experiences within the classroom, laboratory, clinical, and/or distance learning settings; facilitates the learning process to help students be successful; provides accurate, quality academic and career advisement for students; seeks professional development opportunities to implement best practices in teaching within their discipline area; maintains office hours according to institutional policy; completes required course assessments and documentation in an accurate and timely manner; attends college meetings, student activities, institutional functions; and contributes to the development of curriculum courses and programs.
