Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Exercise Science or Health and Physical Education, or a closely-related field required. If Masters is in a closely-related field, the applicant must have at least 18 graduate hours in Exercise Science and/or Health, and/or Physical Education. Course work in exercise physiology, Kinesiology, pedagogy and personal training is a plus. American College of Sports Medicine Certification in personal training is highly desirable. Additional credentialing within the field of Exercise Science is beneficial. Course work in the adolescent learner and the adult learner, course work in educational leadership, and course work in educational technology are all highly desirable.
Experience teaching Exercise Science and/or Health and Physical Education is required. Experience with using instructional technology is required. Experience teaching in both high school and college environments is a plus. Work experience as a certified personal trainer is desirable.
Must be a good team member and be willing to update skills as needed. Must be able to work effectively with diverse student populations. Educational philosophy must be compatible with the role of the community college and with best practices in health and fitness education.

Position Description
Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance.
Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources outside of class, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner so as to promote student success.
Support curriculum development by participating in the creation and evaluation of courses, curriculum, and programs, participating in program advisory committees, attending departmental meetings, and serving as backup for other faculty members.
Promote the success of the college by participating in standing and/or ad hoc committees and following college professional and ethical guidelines.
Maintain teaching and work environment (classroom, lab, shop) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Stay current in chosen field and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, participating in professional development workshops and seminars, and participating in professional organizations and reading journals related to teaching in the fields of teaching Health, Physical Education and Health and Fitness Science field.
Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies.
