  • Self-motivated; works independently,
  • Passion for Music with solid craft and teaching skills.

  • Must have the ability to establish rapport with non-traditional older student populations in order to foster retention and program growth.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Teaches classes involving a variety of stringed instruments to adult students.      

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Recruits students to fill classes personally taught. 
  • Provides and follows a detailed syllabus, teaching 3-4 hours weekly for a 16-week semester (spring/fall) and/ or 8-week session (summer).
  • Provides individual feedback to adult students tailored to move them forward from their current level.  
  • Submits news and photos of student work for posting on Southport Center’s social media accounts.
  • Assists the Director with developing the Southport Center course schedule during each semester by submitting and reviewing own line-item entries. 
  • Submits timesheets and attendance rosters in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains good rapport with colleagues and students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the director.
