Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in Nursing

A current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
Must have two (2) calendar years' prior full time employment, or the equivalent, in clinical nursing practice as a Registered Nurse
Two years' experience supervising Nurse Aides
Approval by the Division of Health Service Regulation (NC Department of Health and Human Services) and the NC Board of Nursing to teach Nursing Assisting courses
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Nursing
Three years teaching experience at a community college
Position Description

* Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner; supervises and evaluates student clinical performance
* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance, submits information in accordance with institutional and departmental policies
* Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
* Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment; uses laboratory equipment safely and proficiently
* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
*Coordinates and maintains clinical site agreements and required documentation
Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
Maintains regular office hours
Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Serves on college or department committees as needed
Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus
Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
Completes an annual individual or group benchmark project
