Minimum Qualifications

· One or more of the following:

o A minimum of one year of documented postsecondary academic training in the discipline or closely related area;

o A minimum of two or more years of documented work experience in the discipline or closely related area;

o One or more earned industry-recognized credentials in the discipline or a closely related area.

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

· Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications

Preferred Qualifications

· Minimum of the equivalent of one academic year of lab facilitation experience in a public or private educational setting

· Familiarity with a course management systems such as Canvas

· Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

· Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth

Position Description

Job Description

The School of Applied Science and Technology Lab Facilitator serves to facilitate the completion of lab activities for curriculum courses taught within any of the following programs of study housed in the School of Applied Science and Technology:

· Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology

· Automotive Systems Technology

· Cyber Crime Technology

· Digital Media Technology

· Electrical Systems Technology

· Industrial Systems Technology

· Information Technology

· Mechanical Engineering Technology

· Mechatronics Engineering Technology

· Welding Technology

Working under the guidance of a credentialed instructor of record, the lab facilitator monitors student work and provides lab guidance as appropriate, with the goal of assisting students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations.

Job Duties

· Facilitate the delivery of lab activities that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations

· Monitor student work during lab sessions, and provide lab guidance as appropriate

· Monitor lab activities; enforce rules and regulations and ensure a safe lab environment

· Prepare lab facilities for classes and ensure that work areas are clean and neat; ensure that equipment, materials, and handouts are laid out for lab classes

· Assist faculty in maintaining lab equipment; perform simple maintenance, clean and store equipment when not in use, monitor condition, and notify supervisor of any needed repairs

· Monitor inventory of lab materials and supplies, and communicate needs to faculty

· Assist faculty in researching and evaluating new lab equipment

· Maintain a library of lab materials as determined by the faculty

· Maintain records of laboratory activities, under the supervision of faculty

· Serve as a resource to faculty as they design new lab activities and experiences for the students.

· Assist the instructor of record in determining lab attendance

· Serve as a resource to faculty as they determine grades for lab activities

· Perform any self-study and review needed to ensure mastery-level knowledge of all lab content
