Minimum Qualifications

Position Description

CCCC is recruiting for a Lead Career & College Advisor (11 months) to be a part of the Central Carolina Works (CCW) team. The CCW program is an initiative to increase high school participation in the state Career and College Promise Program, which allows high school students the opportunity to earn college credit. A total of nine Career and College Advisors are placed in service-area high schools.

The Lead Advisor will handle additional responsibilities focused on the program mission, objectives and support of Chatham County. The Lead Advisor will work closely with the Director and other lead advisors to better support the team of advisors, administrative goals and tasks. Some items include data collection, county CCP event coordination and local educational agency (LEA) meetings. The Lead Advisor will support any other duties as assigned by the Director. The Lead Advisor is assigned to work at Jordan Mathews High School and reports to the Director of Secondary Partnerships.  

Essential Duties:

  • Manage Career and College Program (CCP) program at assigned area high school(s).
  • Work in collaboration with principals, high school counselors, high school career development coordinators, and the CCCC Director of Secondary Partnerships.
  • Provide college and career advising and register students in courses per CCP pathways.
  • Maintain records for enrollment, tracking, and reporting purposes.
  • Participate in any school related activities in which CCP pathways can be promoted (e.g. Parent Nights).
  • Potential teaching of one CCP course per semester. (May teach an ACA college course)
  • Manage college textbooks at high school sites.
  • Utilize the AVISO early alert system to identify and provide intervention, resources and strategies for students in need of academic support.
  • Work with Career and College advising team to ensure CCP and college enrollment goals are met and college pathway materials and instructional supplies are disseminated.
  • Participate in team meeting and professional development activities as directed by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.
  • Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents and all stakeholder in information sessions related to college success and CCP advising sessions on related topics.
  • Serve as the CCP Liaison with the Chatham CCCC Provost and Chatham LEA.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development.
  • Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.
  • Travel required within service area.
  • Travel for professional development opportunities/conferences.
  • Some evening/night work required. i.e. parent nights at high schools
