AAS or BA/BS for Associate in Applied Science program areas. Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in subject area for transferable programs

Working in collaboration with the Division Chair, the Lead Instructor provides leadership for the program and the college. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, budget development/management, maintaining programmatic accreditation/external partnerships, and providing oversight of the day-to-day operations for faculty and staff. Instructional responsibilities require a strong program skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. In addition to Lead responsibilities, The Lead Instructor is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains all the job responsibilities of a full-time faculty member. Lead instructors will instruct within their area of expertise using college-level measures to determine student success. Lead instructors will apply the tenants of critical thinking to subject matter and will demonstrate flexibility in teaching across educational mediums (online, information highway, etc.) as needed. Lead instructors will participate in academic advising, college service, and professional development activities. It is expected that Lead Instructors perform their duties in the spirit of cooperation with the Division Chair, and the duties of the position should be performed in a timely manner in consultation with the Chair and Vice-President of Workforce, Technologies, and Community Education.
The Lead Instructor role at SCC includes three levels of responsibility:
• Level 1
• Level 2
• Level 3
These levels reflect increasing levels of responsibility and higher student performance outcomes.
