Position Description

The local government training coordinator (part-time) will report to the Senior Director of Workforce Development.  The position will plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of occupational extension classes that are directly related to local government, municipalities, and towns. Training topics will include leadership, human resources / supervision, technology, organization, equipment operator, personal protective equipment, safety, code enforcement, and various certification courses that are requested by local government in Brunswick County. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish routine visitation, assessment, and survey of workforce needs among the following:   Bald Head Island, Belville, Boiling Spring Lakes, Calabash, Carolina Shores, Caswell Beach, Holden Beach, Town of Leland, Navassa, Northwest, Oak Island, Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte, Southport, St James, Sunset Beach, and Brunswick County Government. 
  • Establish training opportunities at various locations each semester.
  • Hire and supervise qualified instructors.
  • Establish rapport and demonstrate positive interactions with town leaders and employees.
  • Prepare and update a comprehensive menu of training and educational options at BCC; present training options to town administrators and human resource directors.
  • Work closely with supervisor to ensure that appropriate materials are purchased prior to course start dates.
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Ensures all necessary documentation, including end of course paperwork, is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
